The proposals for academic enrichment are evaluated in terms of the expectation that visiting lecturers, authorities, and artists will be in contact with students, thus enriching their program of instruction. Proposed contacts with the community and faculty will certainly be considered, but the emphasis should be on interaction with students.

A faculty committee will evaluate the proposals and recommend to the Dean those which should be forwarded for consideration for funding.

The proposal should be very specific with respect to:

the type of activities supported by this grant
the persons who will be asked to participate both as speakers and the audience
a detailed budget giving estimates of the entire costs of the program and any shared or additional support available
an endorsement of your Department Chair with a cover letter attached when the proposal is sent to the College office. Please contact the Dean's Office for further information.

If funding is available, we expect to be able to notify recipients of their successful proposals by mid June. Typically the college receives approximately $30,000 to cover 10-15 requests for support.

Chucalissa C.H. Nash Museum, The University of Memphis

The C.H. Nash Museum at Chucalissa protects and interprets the Chucalissa archaeological site. The museum provides high quality educational experiences on past and present Native American cultures of the Mid-South, and pursues new knowledge of these cultures through research as part of the University's explicitly multicultural and multiethnic educational orientation. more
