AMCAS ApplicationThe below notification was sent from AMCAS about registering on-line for entry to medical school: "The AMCAS application to the 2004 entering class is now available at www.aamc.org/amcas under the heading AMCAS 2004. First-time applicants, who have not previously accessed AAMC applications (such as AMCAS, FAP or the MCAT ASR), can click "New to the AAMC? Obtain an AAMC Identification Number and assign yourself a User Name and Password" to get started. Many applicants with a previous AAMC user name and password are pre-registered for the AMCASapplication. However, as the result of an AAMC data conversion, certain applicants who self-selected a user name and password prior to May 5, 2003 will 1) need to re-register with the AAMC, or 2) be prompted to select a new password. Applicants should be sure to read all application instructions, including the AMCAS Policies and Procedures, located in the application's Help. Also note that we have two new AMCAS participants for the entering class: - The Florida State University College of Medicine
- The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP), an MD/PHD-granting program. (Note that only applicants to the UT Southwestern MSTP Program may apply through AMCAS; applicants to other UT Southwestern programs will continue to use TMDSAS.)
Please contact advisors@aamc.org if you have any questions. Best wishes for the 2004 entering class admissions process." Fee Assistance ProgramThe Fee Assistance Program (FAP) application form and instructions for the most recent MCAT can only be accessed through AAMC's web site at http://www.aamc.org Then look under "Students and Applicants" to access fee assistance information. For information about changes to the MCAT, go to: http://www.aamc.org and click on MCAT to read the notice. AMCAS UpdateApplicants who use "mass e-mail services" such as Hotmail, AOL, and others, need to be aware of the fact that these systems have "filters" in place to take out junk mail, sometimes defined as multiple messages coming from the same sender within a given period. Apparently this is causing some applicants not to get important e-mail messages from schools using the new AMCAS system. Applicants should be advised to either turn off these filters or to frequently check their "junk mail" folders for correspondence from schools. Back to Pre-Health Information
